About Us
Who we are
Wakati Wa Kafrika (WWK) is a not-for-profit organization that operates on a non-national, non-ethnic, non-religious, and non-political basis. WWK’s primary goal is to provide support to Africans, particularly new immigrants in Canada, who encounter various social and economic challenges that can profoundly affect both their families and individuals.
- It is important to note that while WWK is not racially exclusive, our focus lies on serving a specific group of individuals – all Africans – who may be facing unique challenges due to their immigration status or other factors.
- We recognize that African communities in Canada and North America are abundant, but we acknowledge that our impact has been limited by a lack of unity.
- Our journey started when we acknowledged our own distractions and realized that change was imperative.
Our Approach
At WWK, our purpose is to address the socioeconomic challenges faced by vulnerable children, adults, and families in both Canada and Africa. We are dedicated to coordinating the raising of financial and in-kind resources to provide essential support and create positive change in these communities.
Our Mission
To respond to the socioeconomic challenges faced by vulnerable individuals and families through collaborative efforts and community engagement. By raising financial resources and in-kind donations, we aim to provide vital assistance, improve livelihoods, and foster sustainable development.
Our Vision
We envision a future where the African Canadian community is actively involved in creating positive change. We strive for a high degree of unity, integrity, and diversity among African Canadians, promoting collaboration and cooperation to address social and economic disparities.
Our Value
We hold certain core values that guide our actions and shape our organization’s culture. These values include:
- Low Tolerance for Discrimination: We firmly stand against discrimination in any form. We promote inclusivity, respect diversity, and work towards creating an environment that fosters equal opportunities for all.
- Active Participation of Afro-Canadians: We encourage active involvement and engagement of Afro-Canadians in our programs and initiatives. By amplifying their voices and empowering them to take leadership roles, we strive to create lasting impact and positive change.
- Unwavering Support: We are committed to providing unwavering support to individuals and families who are most in need. Through our programs and services, we aim to uplift and empower those facing socioeconomic challenges, offering them the resources and assistance required to thrive.
